1. Design the model

Designing the digital model is the first step in the 3D printing process. The most common way to design a digital model is to use a 3D printing compatible CAD program such as 3DMax, UG, Pro/E, Maya, CAD, CATIA, or SOLIDWORKS. Digital models can also be generated through 3D scanning.

2. Slicing processing

Import the designed 3D model into the slicing software, which will cut the model into multiple thin slices and generate the G code required for printing. When slicing, parameters such as the layer height, filling density, and support structure for the print need to be taken into consideration.

3. Software setting

Import the generated G code into the control software of the 3D printer, and set the parameters of the printer, such as temperature, printing speed, etc. It is also necessary to choose the appropriate printing material.

4. Printing preheating

The printer preheats to the set temperature to ensure that the printing materials flow smoothly.

5. Printing process

The printer prints layer by layer, according to the G-code instructions generated by the slicing software. The print head builds up the molten printing materials, layer by layer, gradually forming a three-dimensional structure.

6. Support structure removal

If you need to print a model with overhanging parts or complex shapes, you may need to add support structures. After printing, the support structures need to be removed from the model.

7. Surface treatment

Surface treatment is necessary for the printed model, including sanding, spraying, and other techniques, to achieve a superior appearance quality.

8. Inspection and adjustment

Check the quality of the printed product. If you need to adjust the printing parameters or redesign the model, return to the previous step and start again.
